How many sportsbooks do you need for player props?

Quick answer

About three for NFL yardage props, and more for anytime touchdowns. On our NFL week 3 board, across eight major US books, DraftKings alone had the best price on 44% of yardage and receptions sides. Adding FanDuel took that to 66%, and theScore Bet to 80%, at which point the best of all eight paid on average only 0.4% more. On anytime touchdowns the best three books, Fanatics, BetRivers and BetMGM, reached 69%, and it took five to pass 90%.

“Shop your lines” is advice. “Open how many accounts?” is the question people actually have. We can answer it, because our board has every book’s price on the same props at the same time.

The method is simple. Start with the single book that most often had the best price. Then add whichever book lifts that the most. Repeat. Each step tells you what one more account was worth.

Yardage and receptions: three gets you most of it

582 NFL sides across receiving, rushing and passing yards and receptions, priced by at least three of eight major US books on our week 3 board.

Books you holdBest price on, of 582 (sides you could bet)How much more the best paid
DraftKings43.8% (448)1.34%
+ FanDuel66.3% (571)0.63%
+ theScore Bet80.2% (579)0.41%
+ BetRivers89.3% (582)0.22%
+ BetMGM95.0% (582)0.08%

“Best price on” means the books you hold include the best price among all eight, out of all 582 sides. The bracket is how many of the 582 your books quoted at all: with DraftKings alone, 134 sides were bets you could not make there. “How much more the best paid” is how much more the best of the eight paid than your best available price, as a share of your payout, averaged over the sides you could bet. So it flatters a small set: the sides it cannot bet are missing from it, not counted as zero.

Three books got you to 80%, and on average the best of the eight paid only 0.4% more than your best price. A fourth and fifth added less each time. For yardage props, the value of a sixth account on this board was close to nothing.

Anytime touchdowns: a different three, and you need more

401 NFL anytime touchdown players priced by at least three of the same eight books.

Books you holdBest price on, of 401 (players you could bet)How much more the best paid
Fanatics26.2% (391)18.7%
+ BetRivers48.1% (400)9.1%
+ BetMGM69.1% (400)5.9%
+ DraftKings82.5% (401)3.4%
+ Hard Rock Bet93.3% (401)0.6%

The first three books for touchdowns and the first three for yardage have no book in common. And the returns stay large for longer: the third book still cut that gap by about 3 percentage points, where on yardage the third cut it by about a fifth of a point.

The two most common accounts, DraftKings and FanDuel, had the best anytime touchdown price among the eight on only 31% of players. Add BetMGM and it was 52%. How much each of those gaps is worth in dollars is in is line shopping worth it for player props.

So, how many?

  1. Mostly NFL yardage props: three. DraftKings, FanDuel and theScore Bet were the order on our board.
  2. Anytime touchdowns: four or five, and not the same ones.
  3. Both: the union of the two lists, which is where most of the eight end up.

Two caveats that matter more than the ranking:

  • Legality comes first. Not every book is licensed where you are, and with one missing the best order of the rest can change. Treat the list as a guide, not a ranking you can drop a name from.
  • This is one NFL week. DraftKings’ lead on yardage held across the two weeks we have counted, covered in which sportsbook has the best NFL player prop odds. The touchdown order had no clear leader even within one week, so treat it as a shape, not a fixed list.

Whichever books you hold, the Lab board shows the rest. Choose your book under my books and every row is re-priced from its own quote, with vs best price showing how far it sits below the best price posted anywhere.

What we counted

Our board for the NFL week 3 games of 27 and 28 September 2026, prices pulled at 10:11 a.m. Eastern on Friday 25 September. Eight major US books: DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, Fanatics, BetRivers, theScore Bet and Hard Rock Bet. No offshore books, no exchanges, and no bet365, whose prices on our board come from its Ontario app. Main lines only. At each step we added the book that most raised the share of sides where your books held the best price among the eight; ties go to the book reaching more sides.

No affiliate links, no referral codes, and no sportsbook was contacted. Numbers come from our own board for NFL week 3, 2026.

Quick answers

How many sportsbooks should I have for player props?

On our NFL week 3 count, three covered most of the value on yardage props: DraftKings, FanDuel and theScore Bet had the best price among eight US books on 80% of sides. Anytime touchdowns needed more, five books to pass 90%.

Is DraftKings and FanDuel enough?

For NFL yardage props it gets you most of the way: the pair had the best price among eight US books on 66% of sides. For anytime touchdowns, the same pair reached only 31%.

Which sportsbook should I add after DraftKings?

For yardage props on our board, FanDuel added the most, lifting best-price coverage from 44% to 66%. For anytime touchdowns the order started elsewhere: Fanatics first, then BetRivers and BetMGM, with DraftKings fourth.

Does the answer depend on which props I bet?

Completely. The best first three books for yardage (DraftKings, FanDuel, theScore Bet) and for anytime touchdowns (Fanatics, BetRivers, BetMGM) had no book in common.

What if a book is not legal where I live?

The order on this page was measured with all eight books available. With one removed, the best order of the rest can change, so treat the list as a guide, and check your own gap on the Lab board's my books view.
