Do NFL player prop lines move during the week?

Quick answer

Most of them do. Over NFL week 2, of the yardage lines books had posted by Wednesday noon, 79% of receiving yards lines, 85% of rushing and 79% of passing sat on a different number by Sunday noon, typically 3 to 4 yards away. Receptions lines mostly kept their number, but the price moved on 175 of the 196 that did. And on Wednesday most props were not posted yet: 517 on the board, against 1,168 by Sunday.

If you like a player prop on Wednesday, is the number you see the number you would get on Sunday? We can answer that directly, because our board re-prices the whole NFL slate every morning and keeps every version.

So we took one full week, week 2, and read the board as it stood around noon Eastern every day from Wednesday to Sunday, for the 13 Sunday afternoon games.

Most props are not up on Wednesday

First, what there was to bet. Props on the board for those 13 games, counting each player and market once across every book:

Snapshot, about noon Eastern Props on the board
Wednesday 517
Thursday 857
Friday 1,051
Saturday 1,114
Sunday 1,168

It depends heavily on the market:

Market Up by Wednesday noon Up by Sunday noon
Anytime touchdown 334 362
Passing yards 20 26
Receiving yards 40 148
Receptions 36 148
Rushing yards 21 77
Longest reception 0 131

Anytime touchdowns were essentially all up by Wednesday, and so were most passing yards lines. Receiving, receptions and rushing were about a quarter posted, and longest-reception props did not exist until Thursday.

Books differ too. DraftKings had 306 prices up on Wednesday and 1,109 by Sunday. FanDuel went from 328 to 777. Bovada had none on Wednesday and 976 on Sunday.

bet365 is left out of these two tables. Its prices reach our board through a different feed, and its day-to-day count moves with our own collection as much as with bet365, so we will not read timing into it.

Then the lines moved

For every line a book had posted by Wednesday noon, we compared that book’s own number on Sunday noon, player by player.

Market, lines up Wednesday New number by Sunday Typical move
Rushing yards, 133 85% 3 yards
Receiving yards, 220 79% 3 yards
Passing yards, 108 79% 4 yards
Receptions, 232 16% 1 catch

Receptions is the odd one: books mostly kept the number and moved the price instead. Of the 196 receptions lines that held their number, 175 changed price.

The biggest moves in the week:

  • Parker Washington, receiving yards: 50.5 on Wednesday, 59.5 at three books and 60.5 at a fourth by Sunday.
  • Justin Jefferson, receiving yards: 74.5 to 82.5.
  • J.K. Dobbins, rushing yards: 50.5 to 58.5.
  • C.J. Stroud, passing yards: 238.5 down to 217.5.
  • Jayden Daniels, passing yards: 202.5 up to 223.5.

We do not know why any single line moved, and we are not going to guess at team news from a price.

Direction: both ways

Moves were not one-way. Receiving yards lines that moved went up twice as often as down, 116 to 58. Rushing yards lines went down twice as often as up, 77 to 36. Passing yards leaned down, 52 to 33.

That is one week. It says a Wednesday number is usually not Sunday’s number. It does not say which way next week’s will go.

Anytime touchdown prices moved too. Of 2,754 prices a book posted on both Wednesday and Sunday, 86% had changed: 985 got shorter, 1,386 longer, 383 stayed put. Which book had the best of those prices on a given weekend is in which sportsbook has the best anytime touchdown odds.

What that means for when you bet

We cannot tell you from line movement alone whether Wednesday or Sunday is the better time to bet. That would need results, and we are not going to dress a guess up as a finding. Three things the numbers do support:

  1. A Wednesday number is a moving target. Four yardage lines in five were somewhere else by Sunday.
  2. Early in the week you are choosing from a short menu. On Wednesday there were 40 receiving yards props for 13 games. By Sunday there were 148.
  3. If you bet late, check the number, not just the price. With 3 or 4 yards of typical movement, the line you researched on Thursday may not be the line on Sunday. A book that still has the old number is worth knowing about, and so is an alternate at your number, covered in what are alt lines in player props.

The Lab board re-prices the NFL slate every morning, so on a Sunday it shows where every book’s number sits that day, side by side.

What we counted

Our board for NFL week 2, 2026: the 13 games that kicked off on the afternoon of Sunday 20 September. One snapshot per day, the last board published before 12:30 p.m. Eastern, Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 September. Its prices were fetched at about noon on Wednesday and Sunday and about 10 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A “line” is one book’s own main number for one player and market; the board’s own choice of headline number plays no part. Books that had not posted a line on Wednesday are not in the movement table, because there was nothing to move.

One snapshot a day cannot see a line that moved and moved back between noons, so these are moves we could see, not every move that happened. Hard Rock Bet’s listings are counted once.

No sportsbook was contacted. Numbers come from our own board, 16 to 20 September 2026.

Quick answers

Do NFL player prop lines move during the week?

Most yardage lines did in the week we measured. Of the receiving yards lines posted by Wednesday noon, 79% had a different number by Sunday noon, with a median move of 3 yards. Rushing was 85% and passing yards 79%.

When do NFL player props come out?

Anytime touchdown props first: 334 of the 362 on our week 2 board were up by Wednesday noon. Yardage came later: about a quarter of the receiving yards, receptions and rushing props were up on Wednesday, and longest-reception props did not appear until Thursday.

Should I bet NFL props early in the week or on Sunday?

We cannot tell you which is more profitable from one week of line movement, and we would be guessing if we tried. What the numbers do say: a Wednesday number is usually not the Sunday number, in either direction, and the menu on Wednesday is a fraction of Sunday's.

Which way do NFL prop lines move?

Both. In week 2, receiving yards lines that moved went up twice as often as down, 116 to 58, while rushing yards lines went down twice as often as up, 77 to 36. One week is not a pattern, so treat the direction as what happened, not what will.

Do anytime touchdown odds change during the week?

Almost always. Of 2,754 anytime touchdown prices a book posted on both Wednesday and Sunday of week 2, 86% had changed: 985 got shorter, 1,386 got longer and 383 stayed put.
