Who gets Breece Hall's carries when he is out?
In the two 2026 games the Jets played without Breece Hall, October 4 and October 11, Braelon Allen took over the backfield: 94% and 86% of the snaps, 14 and 24 carries, 59 and 116 rushing yards. In the three games beside Hall this season he averaged 6.3 carries and 20.3 yards. Geno Smith threw less in those two games, 15 and 30 passes against 34.0 a game with Hall. Two games is a small sample.
Breece Hall will not play in the Jets’ game at New England on Sunday, October 18, 2026 (quadriceps; reported Friday, October 16). He has already missed two games this season, and our NFL game logs show what the Jets did without him: one running back took almost every snap.
The comparison is this season’s five games: three with Hall and two without. A game counts as with Hall when he played at least a fifth of the snaps; he played 58%, 65% and 48% in his three, so none is borderline. Geno Smith started all five. The Jets’ other game without Hall, the 2025 finale, had a different quarterback and a different backfield and is described on its own below.
The 2026 season, game by game
| Game | Hall carries, yards | Allen snaps | Allen carries, yards | Team carries, rushing yards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sept 13 at Tennessee | 22, 102 | 40% | 10, 40 | 39, 152 |
| Sept 20 vs Green Bay | 16, 29 | 31% | 5, 7 | 27, 67 |
| Sept 27 at Detroit | 13, 32 | 52% | 4, 14 | 19, 58 |
| Oct 4 at Chicago (no Hall) | 94% | 14, 59 | 14, 59 | |
| Oct 11 vs Cleveland (no Hall) | 86% | 24, 116 | 32, 134 |
Team carries include quarterback runs. On October 4 every Jets carry was Allen’s.
Braelon Allen: from a share to the whole backfield
Beside Hall this season, Allen averaged 6.3 carries and 20.3 rushing yards a game on 41% of the snaps. Without him, Allen averaged 19.0 carries and 87.5 yards on 90% of the snaps. The only other running back in our logs for those games, Isaiah Davis, played 6% of the snaps with no carry on October 4 and 14% with 2 carries for 8 yards on October 11. Allen also drew 2 and 4 targets, with 8 and 0 receiving yards.
Hall carried 17.0 times a game in his three 2026 games (median 16), for 54.3 yards (median 32; the 102-yard opener lifts the average). Allen’s two games without him landed close to that workload.
Geno Smith and Garrett Wilson
Smith threw 15 and 30 passes in the two games without Hall, against 34.0 a game with him (24, 41 and 37). Garrett Wilson drew 4 and 11 targets without Hall, against 9.0 a game with him (7, 7 and 13). The 15-pass game against Chicago pulls both numbers down; two games cannot say whether that was about Hall, the opponent or the score.
The other game: January 4, 2026 at Buffalo
The Jets’ 2025 finale was also played without Hall, and it looked nothing like this season. Allen did not play. Khalil Herbert carried 12 times for 42 yards and Kene Nwangwu 7 times for 18, with Brady Cook at quarterback (11 of 22 for 60 yards). None of the three has a 2026 game in our logs. Across all three games without Hall, the Jets averaged 23.0 carries and 87.3 rushing yards (median 69), against 27.3 and 121.3 (median 110) in the 19 regular-season games with him since 2025.
What this can and cannot tell you
Two games this season, against Chicago and Cleveland, plus one late-2025 game with a different roster. It shows the shape of what happened: the Jets did not split Hall’s work, they gave it to Allen. It does not say how many carries Allen gets at New England, and it says nothing about prices. Cause unknown for the passing dip.
Where to find these
When the Jets’ game is on the Lab board, open Allen’s rushing yards page for his carries and snaps beside every result, Wilson’s receiving yards page for his targets, and Smith’s passing yards page. The same question for other teams is in Ravens props without Lamar Jackson and Chiefs props without Rashee Rice.

Quick answers
Does Braelon Allen get Breece Hall's carries?
He did in both 2026 games without Hall. Allen played 94% of the snaps on October 4 against Chicago (14 carries, 59 yards) and 86% on October 11 against Cleveland (24 carries, 116 yards). In the three games with Hall he played 41% of the snaps on average and carried 10, 5 and 4 times.
How much did Hall carry the ball this season?
17.0 carries and 54.3 rushing yards a game across his three 2026 games (22, 16 and 13 carries; medians 16 carries and 32 yards, since one 102-yard opener lifts the average).
Does Garrett Wilson get more targets without Hall?
Not in the games we hold. Wilson drew 4 and 11 targets in the two games without Hall, against 9.0 a game (7, 7 and 13) with him. Two games cannot say whether that is about Hall.
What happened the other time the Jets played without Hall?
The 2025 finale at Buffalo on January 4, 2026: Khalil Herbert carried 12 times for 42 yards and Kene Nwangwu 7 times for 18, with Brady Cook at quarterback. Allen did not play that day, and none of the three has a 2026 game in our logs, so that game says little about Sunday.
Does this predict Sunday's game?
No. Two games this season, against two different defences, describe what happened; they do not forecast Allen's workload at New England, and they say nothing about the prices.
